Good Shepherd Awards

Good Shepherd Awards

In 2011, Walter Yakich established the Good Shepherd Award in collaboration with Pius XI Catholic High School in Milwaukee, WI.   The goal is to recognize achievement in Catholic education, specifically Pius XI educators who inspire students and community members through lived personal and professional examples.

These exemplary leaders are achievement-oriented professionals who embrace and model the mission of Pius XI Catholic High School; demonstrate excellence in their roles; and actively participate in the greater community through service and outreach.

A Good Shepherd Award winner:

  • Teaches and models the responsibility of great leadership through their work and their lives
  • Teaches and models faith, spirituality, and belief in and support of Catholic Schooling
  • Teaches and demonstrates that all students possess great potential in God’s eyes
  • Teaches and models a “but for the grace of god” love for others
  • Teaches and models excellence in role, in use of full abilities, and in contribution to the greater good of the community through exemplary leadership
